ABOUT ME

James concentrates his practice in deep tissue and recovery massage. With an in-depth understanding of anatomy and structural kinesiology, James is able to work muscular issues at the root and not just at the surface.  His massage incorporates a variety of techniques, including myofascial release and advanced stretching, and he is trained and licensed in a wide range of massage modalities, including: Deep Tissue, Swedish, IASTM, Cupping, Hot Stone, and Sports Therapy.  His practical experience ranges from work with athletic departments, both at the collegiate and professional level, to day spas.  He has been certified by the ISSA as a Certified Personal Trainer .

Currently, James works as a Massage Therapist for the University of Maryland Men’s Soccer Team, Track and Field Team, Cross Country Team, Men’s and Women’s Lacrosse, and Field Hockey Team.  Recently, he has had the opportunity to work with several professional competitive bodybuilders.

James’ formal training was conducted at the Northern Virginia School of Therapeutic Massage in Falls Church, VA. Prior to Massage school James spent 8 years in various inpatient and outpatient Physical Therapy clinics throughout the Medstar National Rehabilitation Network. He graduated from the University of Maryland Baltimore County with a degree in Psychology.  James is an active member of the ABMP.

James’ athletic history stems from playing Varsity football and Wrestling at Bishop Denis J. O’Connell High School in Arlington, VA. At the collegiate level James was a starter on the UMBC Wrestling team at 133lbs. While at UMBC James started competitive bodybuilding at age 20. Currently, James is a lifetime drug-free professional bodybuilder.
